Self Care + Keratoconus

Coping with KC can feel like a constant uphill journey. Here is some advice from Mindy Hutchinson, MD, guest speaker of the Keratoconus Family Symposium, on living with and coping with keratoconus.

Eat and sleep in consistent and healthy ways:  Your diet and sleeping patterns are crucial to how you feel, both physically and mentally.

Build yourself a network of support with friends and loved ones: Talk to them about KC and all the issues related to living with it. When your trusted network understands what you’re going through they can provide an endless amount of support and encouragement when things feel a little harder than usual.

Plan things to look forward to — we all get excited for upcoming plans!  Make sure you have fun things to keep you focused on not just your present but the near future too!

Learn how to relax and recharge:  Sometimes the best thing to do is just chill. Relax and take time to enjoy your surroundings and rest up.

Remember, self care is important and worth all your time.
